I am a passionate Leader, Machine Learning Engineer and Computational Social Scientist with over a decade of experience working with quantitative and qualitative methods.
Industry Experience
I am currently working for Factset, an S&P 500 company, managing the Data Solutions AI team. This group of talented MLEs, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers are working to push the needle across a range of ML/NLP topics.
I have worked previously as an MLE for a Defense Startup SparkCognition Government Systems. There I worked to help customers in the Air Force Research Labs surface technical engineering documents at scale using advanced ML/NLP techniques for information retrieval.
I consult for a range of startups, NGOs, and political campaigns. I have provided advanced machine learning, data science, geospatial, and systems design expertise to clients. More info avaialble upon request.
Academia and Research Experience
I was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow and NLP/Machine Learning Researcher for The University of Central Florida’s National Center for Integrated Coastal Research and School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs. I worked to surface information through ML/NLP techniques related to readiness across fine grained spatial resolutions to natural disasters and climatic shocks.
I hold a Ph.D. in Security Studies from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Security Studies. My research has focused on quantifying adaptive pathways for coastal systems utilizing advanced computational methods and my dissertation usesd spatial and environmental determinants to better predict global coups d’etat. My broader research interests include food security, political psychology, civil-military relations, and forecasting. You can find an updated CV HERE .

Personal
When I’m not exploring social phenomena or working on ML problems, I enjoy hiking with our pup Rivia, playing sports of any kind, music, movies, books, and most of all spending time with my wife and son!
